The Orchestra participated in KMEA District 3 Music Performance Assessment on Tuesday at WKU. This year the Orchestra program took 30 students and earned a "Distinguished" Rating! Straight Distinguished from the 3 stage judges and a Distinguished in Sightreading.
For those unfamiliar, music students (Band, Choir, and Orchestra) perform a series of pieces for a set of three judges to be scored in a variety of categories including: professionalism, posture, musicality, intonation, accuracy, etc. THEN they move onto sightreading.
Sightreading involves learning a NEW piece of music in 5 minutes.
The Rankings range from
I: Distinguished
II: Proficient
III: Apprentice
IV: Novice
