Barren County Middle Magnet, located on the campus of Barren County Middle School in rural Glasgow, Kentucky, is a school within a school that offers students a challenging, college preparatory curriculum along with leadership and service programs that will help them grow as both learners and leaders. 

Preparing Students for Success
Barren County Middle Magnet is a program designed to meet the needs of highly motivated 7th and 8th grade students who have a love for learning.  Academically, it provides students with the opportunity to earn high school credits and prepare themselves for pre-AP and AP courses offered at the high school. Socially, the program teaches students to be active members of the community through partnerships and service. Not only does it challenge students academically, it also affords them the opportunity to grow as leaders and become more involved in their community. Through a collaborative effort between administrators, dedicated staff, and enthusiastic students, we are building a learning community committed to excellence. BC Middle Magnet is a school within a school. The magnet program offers students a rigorous, rich learning experience while still giving them access to all of the clubs, programs, athletics, and extracurricular activities available at Barren County Middle School. 

Community Partnerships and Service
Volunteer work will be emphasized in the program to encourage students to see the value of participating as citizens in their communities. Students participating in the program will be required to complete 20 hours of volunteer service. Service opportunities through local churches, benevolent organizations and school clubs will count toward completion of service hours. 

ACT Prep Classes
Students will participate in ACT test prep classes to help further advance their college and career readiness path. The curriculum will focus on test taking strategies to help prepare students for the ACT test. Classes will be offered after school during the fall and spring semesters.
